So, anyone else heres like Yuki? She's probably my favorite character of all time... She's so pretty and awesome! My ideal girl. ;A;

I just started reading this VN and I absolutely love her.

If she's the one on the game cover, she looks cute. But i haven't read this one yet. I don't speak japanese and my guess is that the atlas (or whatever it's called, that auto translator script) is kinda shitty to read something like this

@dacasa

I've been reading it using atlas and I can understand it just fine. It's not the language itself that's difficult to read. It's the subjects. It's hard to keep up with what the characters are talking about sometimes. In short, it's all just mindfuck.

If that's her then hell yes. Smoking heroines = super sexy. If she had tattoos she'd be #1.

She's pretty cool, yeah. Shame she's not the protag for the whole game; the others are all a lot more boring.

Takuji and Tomosane are both much better protagonists than Yuki, who works much better as a heroine. People who focus on her being a protagonist are dumb faggots who only care about the idea of a female perspective and/or yuri, which in this case doesn't really add anything to the game as a whole or the story being told.

Given that the above poster seems to think Majikoi is the best shit ever though I guess he truly is a dumb faggot.Last modified on 2012-06-19 at 05:07

Moogy, I'm starting to feel like you are abusing your free-trolling license lately... -.-
Please bash people in moderation. Everyone here knows that you believe you are """"authority"""" (there are not enough quotation marks in the world...) when it comes to VNs, but maybe others would think of you that way as well if you just used some actual arguments to support that """"""""authority"""""""" (nope, still not enough quotation marks...) of yours instead of flaming everyone left and right... Just sayin'.

I don't know bout you guys but I don't find Moogy annoying. He's always so over-the-top harsh that it feels hilarious reading what he says, compared to those always trying to shove their own opinions into others' throats with logic and reasoning full of holes. And the "I'm always correct" makes me laugh.

Good thing I'm already building the Temple of Moogy, our dear god.

Also, I kind of want to shoot myself for the post I made at the beggining of the thread, because I feel like a retarded weeaboo.Last modified on 2012-06-19 at 15:09

Don't worry, sunclaudius is here to make you look intelligent.

On topic, I'm not sure I agree with Moogy, though I can't give a reason other than that I find Yuki a hilarious narrator. Of course, that's true of her as a heroine too, but she's just a bit less prominent as one.

Also, Takuji's thoughts go off on long, dreary tangents (often about his mother) way too often.

No... rather, most people don't like female perspectives and yuri because they can project themselves on guys better. That's why there are so few female protagonists in mainstream visual novels. So it would make more sense to say that people only like Tomosane being a protagonist because they like a male protagonist and straight sex... that is, it would still be nonsensical, but less so than your judgment. Also, what you're saying would apply to Zakuro just as well, but Yuki gets far more attention.

RH's Yuki essentially takes the best of Tomosane in terms of philosophical outlook and kindness and self-support and seriousness, and wraps it up in the cool yet silly attitude she had in the past. Those admirable and entertaining qualities make her a great character.

I'm inclined to agree with moogy. Yuki isn't a bad protagonist but if you take away her tits there isn't anything noteworthy about her. Tomosane is way better.

Well, at least Yuki seems like a funny protag, from what little I've read anyways.
Okay, to make a comparison... Maybe she's like what Will is to Umineko: he's an awesome character, but doesn't have as much depth as Battler (or, in Yuki's case, Tomosane... Though I don't know much about him.)Last modified on 2012-06-23 at 05:46

After thinking about it further, I believe the reason I prefer Yuki has to do with the personae they display to other people.

Yuki pretends that she's antisocial, but for the most part it's just that, pretending- her interaction with Kiyoshi in RH2 is kind of assholish, but that's the most we see of that side of her. Whereas Tomosane frankly acts like kind of a dick in Jabberwocky, especially to Hasaki. Sure, he had his reasons, and sure, he's a nice guy at heart, but I still don't like him. Maybe it makes him a better character, but going back to the topic title, he's not cool. I'd rather hang out the with 'Mamiya' after the end of summer in Looking-glass Insects than the one before it.

Actually, Tomosane in Looking-glass Insects is a legitimately funny dude. I might have to think about it more. But yeah, I made the "why u do dis" face a lot more often at the narration in Jabberwocky than anywhere else.

Not factoring in Jabberwocky II at all because it's short, Tomosane acts pretty different, and him being voiced changes things a lot too.

I can't really complain about Takuji's external persona (at least after 7/12), but as I said I don't like his narration.

@bminorkey: I'm not really sure what was so revealing about the parts I didn't have blacked out previously, but okay. Reading this thread in the first place is a bad idea if you don't want to risk that something might accidentally spoil you through a leap of intuition, though.Last modified on 2012-08-08 at 04:11

I usually tend to agree with moogy's opinions (from what I've read on this board at least but I want to have sex before I decide to take it to the next level) but here he's just wrong.

Yuki is a fantastic protagonist in that she is thoroughly entertaining and reading things from her perspective is incredibly fun. Having her as the protagonist allows us to understand a lot about Tomosane's illness and anyone who thinks understanding her thought process and character is not important enough to warrant her being a protagonist clearly hasn't taken the message in (the alternate route of) Looking-Glass Insects and Jabberwocky I (not II) seriously enough. (I can understand why you might think what Tomosane/Ayana say about Yuki there is a red herring and/or irrelevant given Jabberwocky II but that would be a very shallow, and I dare say wrong reading that very much misses the point).

(Having her as the protagonist for the entire game - or in any other arc than her own arcs - would be absolutely dumb and not really possible though, yeah).

Btw someone should black text 7hs's entire comment he is not subtle at all.Last modified on 2012-08-07 at 16:33

@ ipohmari

Maybe if you weren't so self-centered and egotistic and actually listen to other people (as well as have the mental capacity to process the info), they might not be so annoying.

I do find it amusing how 5 years old trolls like moogy can get so many people riled up.

I do agree that the guys make better protagonist though; Yuki's biggest advantage is that the readers are male so she can get away with fucking every character. See, males protags can't do that. Also, some people here seem to think she the bestest ever just from an image of her. Yeah, ok, whatever.
